Why Chameleon Yoga Is Different

People sometimes ask me what makes Chameleon Yoga Studio so special. And while I could talk about the beautiful yurt in Wisbech or our cosy space in Wellingborough, or the way we blend elemental flows with traditional Hatha, the truth is — it’s not the setting or the sequencing. It’s the spirit.

At Chameleon Yoga, we don’t really do the whole “teacher on a pedestal” thing. Yes, I am technically a yoga teacher. Yes, I lead classes, offer cues, and occasionally talk a bit too much about the fire element. But in my heart, I don’t believe in students and teachers. I believe in people. People sharing space. People breathing together. People remembering something ancient and sacred — something that already lives inside them.

There’s no hierarchy here. I’m not more important than anyone who walks into the room. In fact, without you showing up, I’d just be a weird guy in stretchy pants, talking to himself in an empty room.

I’ve been to classes where students are expected to lie in a particular way during savasana to show “respect” to the teacher. Or where silence is enforced the moment you enter. Worst of all are the moments when someone’s told, “No, you can’t feel that in your hip — I know your body better than you do.” That’s not yoga. That’s control.

At Chameleon Yoga, your body is your teacher. I’ll offer guidance, but I’ll also encourage you to listen in, feel what’s true for you, and make choices that honour your lived experience. You won't be expected to perform, please, or perfect. Just show up. Breathe. Be.

Yoga isn’t a performance — it’s a practice. A shared, sacred remembering. And that’s what we do here. Together.
