The Truth About Running Two Yoga Studios

When I tell people that I run not just one, but two yoga studios, the reaction is often the same:“Wow, you must be so relaxed! All that yoga must keep you in such a calm state.”

And yes, yoga is absolutely my anchor, my medicine, and my joy. But the reality of holding space in two very different locations is far from simple. It's rewarding — deeply rewarding — but it’s also hard work.

Each studio has its own personality, its own rhythm, and its own set of blessings and challenges. And to be honest, they couldn’t be more different.

The Wild Heart of Wisbech

My Wisbech studio is an off-grid yurt nestled in nature. It’s peaceful, elemental, and utterly beautiful — but it comes with its own kind of chaos. There's no electricity, which means relying on battery-powered tools and old-school solutions. I’m constantly weeding, trimming nettles, and keeping the space safe and comfortable for students — not to mention dealing with the occasional leaky roof or mischievous gust of wind.

And yet… it’s magical.

Surrounded by trees, flowers, birdsong, and wide skies, there’s something primal and grounding about practicing yoga here. It’s as if nature joins us in every session — breathing with us, holding us, whispering reminders of what really matters. The simplicity, the rawness, the connection to the earth — it's incredibly special, a little romantic even.

The Steady Pulse of Wellingborough

In contrast, the Wellingborough studio is a completely different world. Set inside a large building that I share with The Somatic Clinic, it offers warmth, structure, and stability. No mud on the mat here. No nettles to tackle before class. Everything is ready the moment I arrive.

But it also means I have to create the magic from scratch — crafting ambience with soft lights, music, scent, and intention. There are no trees to hold us, no birdsong to guide us inward. Instead, I rely on ritual and design to shape the experience, inviting people into stillness through subtler cues.

At the moment, I share the space. But as the studio grows — and it is growing — I hope to take it on fully and transform it into a true yogic sanctuary. A dedicated space for practice, community, and transformation. A place where people can walk in, take a deep breath, and feel the shift.

The Journey Continues

Running these two studios is not easy. It stretches me in ways I never expected — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Some days I’m fixing tarpaulin and charging batteries, other days I’m teaching a full room of students with incense burning and mantras playing softly in the background.

But through it all, I’m learning. I’m growing. I’m building something rooted in love, presence, and possibility.

Both of these spaces — the wild and the contained, the earthy and the structured — hold a different kind of magic. And together, they reflect the full spectrum of the yogic path: effort and ease, chaos and calm, reality and grace.

I can’t wait to share more of this unfolding journey with you. Thank you for being part of it.
